Job Content:
1. Serve as the
case manager for each student: hold comprehensive counseling sessions with each
designated student, help students identify their strengths and the relevance of
these attributes to their future; monitor the student’s academic progress and
personal development, facilitate the student choose and apply to appropriate
off-campus activities including summer programs; facilitate the student’s
college process; write comprehensive recommendation letters.
2. Meet with
individual student and parent(s) regarding post-high school placement.
Publicize relevant information regarding post-high school placement (college
list, college admissions tests, scholarships, etc.) to meet the student’s
individual needs.
3. Maintain
detailed counseling records for designated students including college
application information, scholarships applied, college acceptance, and
scholarships received.
4. Counsel
prospective families in the recruitment process for the upper school division.
Work as a team to achieve the periodical enrollment goal.
5. Create a
calendar and schedule college workshops and information sessions. Give
workshops on college-level curriculum, activities, college research, college
essay writing, test-taking skills, scholarship information, etc. Conduct
college and career advisory groups. Inform students and parents of college
options and provide resources so that families can have the best possible
option(s). Develop and update college counseling publications distributed
to students and families dealing with all aspects of the college admissions
process, financial aid, test-taking practices, etc.
6. Establish
and maintain a relationship with selective college admissions offices
worldwide. Schedule and oversee visits to colleges and college fairs and host
college representatives. Represent the school and its students through
participation in college counseling professional organizations to promote the
school and its students.
7. Assist
with managing all college process data, systems, and records. Prepare reports,
analyze data on courses and credits eligibility, college acceptance statistics,
and scholarships received by students, while ensuring the confidentiality of
all information.
8. Work with
the student’s subject teacher(s) to establish goals and academic plans for each
designated student; provide guidance to the faculty on writing requested and
required recommendations for students applying to college and other academic
activities.
9. Create and
maintain a tracking system for students after they graduate from high school.
10. Complete
other tasks assigned by the line manager.
